How Many Satellites are orbiting around Earth in 2022?

2022 have witnessed the maximum number of orbital and sub-orbital launches. 149 out of 155 launches were successful in 2022. According to United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), 8261 individual satellites are orbiting the Earth now, out of which 4,852 satellites are active.

It says that there are 154 satellites used in positioning, but shouldn't that number be in the thousands? We have GPS constellations from US, Russia, Europe, Japan, India, etc. Hmm.

With thousands no longer active & all the pieces from Russia playing games it's probably time to send up an automated AI Cleanup Satellite before we get too much more up there and start relying on them even more heavily.
