The Cardiac Cycle 🫀

The cardiac cycle includes: P Wave, QRS Complex, and T Wave.

🟣P WAVE: left and right atria depolarizing (contracting).

❌P WAVE “ATRIAL DISORDERS”: Atrial Fibrillation (AFIB)
Atrial Flutter (AFLUTTER)
Premature Atrial Contractions (PAC)
Atrial Tachycardia

🔵QRS COMPLEX: left and right ventricles are depolarizing (contracting) while atrias are relaxing.

❌QRS “VENTRICULAR DISORDERS”
Ventricular fibrillation (VFIB)
Ventricular tachycardia (VTACH)
Premature Ventricular Beats (PVCs)

🟠T WAVE: ventricles start to repolarize (relax) and everything is getting ready for another cycle.

❌T WAVE DISORDERS: these are usually due to injury or illness. Ex: myocardial infarction or ⬆️K+.

Correction. Atrial repolarization is hidden in the QRS, the T wave is ventricular repolarization.

A slight correction here :
During P wave, Atria go into depolarisation phase, and during the P-Q interval, the atria undergo systole.
Similarly, QRS wave represents the beginning of depolarisation in Ventricles, and Q-T interval shows ventricular systole. The beginning of T wave shows repolarisation of ventricles, and by the end of T wave, ventricles undergo diastole. Please do not confuse the depolarisation with systole or repolarisation with diastole, both are different terms altogether.

It’s easier to understand with the graphical representation of the ecg and the square box of the heart because if you’re just looking at the picture of a heart in gen it gets confusing with everything involved.

The box method makes it simple with the rep of the ecg which is very important in the electrical and mechanical conduction of the heart

Nice! This was so confusing! Other videos are terrible at explaining! Lol 😂

Literally the same thing is written in the national council of educational research training (NCERT) book of Class 11th Biology in India 🇮🇳

The Indian Medical Education seems way beyond most or atleast some advanced countries in curriculums and syllabus atleast. We had this in out Med biology in 12th Grade Cet exams
