I made a comment on another channel that Biles velocity and upward trajectory power should be impossible. Someone else said that Biles was not unique and that other gymnasts do what Simone does. THANK YOU for this video. As a former gymnast from years ago, I can confidently say Biles is in a league of her own.

Compared to men? How high do they get? She was clearing above 12 feet? Do they get similar or higher?

She's not reaching anywhere close to 12 feet. A standard basketball hoop is 10 feet tall. At 4"8" she wouldn't be getting anywhere near touching a rim with her arms outstretched, let alone her head level with the rim. I might believe her head is somewhere between 8 feet and 8 and a half feet (40-46 inches above her height), but 12 feet is laughable. Unless she has an 88 inch vertical leap (far and away a world record), this isn't accurate. His "Airness" Michael Jordan had a 42 inch vertical leap. He was 6'6" tall with a standing reach of 8 feet. Even then he was only dunking on 10 foot tall rims, not 12. If Simone was able to get her head to 12 feet tall, she would also likely be able to dunk on a 13 or 14 foot tall rim. Does anyone believe she can do that? This obviously doesn't make her abilities any less impressive. She's probably the greatest gymnast of all time, man or woman. However, let's come back down to reality on the height claim.
