I love how people are saying she quit with no understanding of why pulled out. She didn't quit; the team doctor her coach and her all made the decision because she couldn't feel where she was in the air while tumbling on any apparatus. That could have gotten her incredibly injured or even killed; it's killed two gymnasts before when they should have just said no. What particularly got her is called the "twisties, " part of it is mental, part of it is losing your equilibrium and other internal factors that allow a gymnast to know where they are in the are while rotating in a vault or on the beam, or floor. If a gymnast has the twisties, she can't know where she is in the are, so she can't know where she's going to land, where she is in 2 rotations in a certain flip/move, when to put her hands down in a series no extremely dangerous. THAT is why she pulled out temporarily, because she literally could have died and they don't allow foam pits at the Olympics, even if you have the twisties. She was able to comeback for two events, but still wasn't at top form for the other two. There was footage of her practicing to try and move past the twisties on the uneven bars and she lands smack dab on her back, emphasis on smack. She let's put a frustrated yell. She was very upset and unhappy that she had to make the decision she did, because she KNEW what people would say. And here you guys are, saying exactly what she knew some idiots(who couldn't do even a tenth of what she does and don't have 5 moves named for themselves) would say. Looks like the GOAT is psychic 🔮 too.
