As I understand it, these requirements have always existed for 3rd Country nationals (and perhaps also or more related to those seeking residence or longer term stays?). All that has changed recently is the amount of the daily monetary requurement.

I imagine checks will be done on a risk assessment basis. The risk will only be know when the system runs for a while so the authorities will learn what the actual risks are, and what profile of traveller will be a higher risk.

I'm glad we are back from Mallorca with all these new rules. £85 per is a bit much, I spend that much every other week on groceries. Although when we went on hols we had at €700 cash then just used our bank cards to use atm when we were there.

£85 a day lol, here in the Uk i don't even spend £85 a fortnight, personally i think these requirements will quietly be shelved because it will be just to difficult to carry out these kind of checks.

I wonder where they came up with £85 a day per person, it's almost like they just plucked a number out the air...
I'm quite sure there are many people who spend far less than £85 a day when they go on holiday, especially if they go all-inclusive
