Formula 1 as a championship takes in a huge amount of money which then gets shared amongst the teams. But how is that prize money shared and why do Ferrari still get the biggest share of the prize pot?

F1 is like Ferrari's grandma. "Here, have some money for existing."

Now we know where Ferrari gets all the funding for their elite race strategists.

So Ferrari gets over $50 million just for showing up, which is a significant portion of the cost cap. They also are the only team with veto power. I have to wonder how they don't consistently win championships with such a crazy advantage.

A special payment to “teams under 5 years old to help them compete for the good of the sport” would be much more valid than Ferrari’s “historic contribution” payment

The rich get richer, Williams being the exception. But when that too 3 in the last 10 years runs out 😬

F1 generates 2.5B€ in 2021 and recently got evaluated for 20B and FIA president said it's not the valuable on his official Office account and F1 has sent out a letter to FIA for this action

Historical significance... Doesnt matter if you are literally the team with the worst decision making and strategy, with 2 very talented drivers that get a car that basically recieves no upgrades throught the season, you sacrifice the drivers championship of your LEAD driver just to not hurt the feelings of your second driver and make a complete joke of yourself, you still get a special prize cause why not...

As unfair as that money seems for Ferrari getting it simply for existing, the fact they are in F1 brings in so much more cash to F1 that it absolutely dwarfs that 50 million $ sum that they are getting.
So basically F1 is paying Ferrari for marketing

They should share the money equally/more equal, they can still compete using sponsorships who surely would prefer putting their money on a winning team, this way, the backmarker get more chance and people will love it more, who doesn't love haas starting at a pole position last year? Everyone loves amazing underdog comeback story.

No mate Ferrari are not given extra for historical significance they are given 5% for the therapy that their team members need after the season is over

I think it would be more interesting if the top teams got the least, and the back markers the most, and everything in-between

Williams should have at least a bonus of 3 percent for their heritage

I really think Williams should receive ‘historic’ status too. Okay it’s not as old but it’s the only grass routes team still in f1, one of the most successful and could really do with some extra cash
