A short video to show you how to terminate a Cat6 data cabling patch panel. The video shows how best to dress a patch panel and how to punch down Cat6 cables onto that patch panel. The videos shows how to match the patch panel and Cat6 cable for the correct Cat6 RJ45 wiring.

With the correct termination the best performance for Cat6 speed can be achieved. The biggest problem found with cable terminations is untwisting the cores too much when terminating to the patch panel. These results in larger amounts of data loss and transmission problems.

Care should be taken to minimise the untwisting of the cores as shown in the video
00:00 Intro
00:20 Take the stripping tool and strip off the outer plastic sleeve
00:31 Repeating for each cable
00:39 Separate out the inner cable cores
00:47 Cutting out the central plastic divider
01:01 You will notice the cable core and panel colours match
01:07 Start to separate the 4 cable pairs and place onto the panel in position one
01:13 Untwist the pair just enough to slot into the termination slots and place securely
01:19 Ensure that both colours match the panel
01:24 Continue and do the same for the 3 remaining colour pairs
01:41 Continue with the second cable in position two
01:53 Once again securing the cable pairs into place by colour code
02:09 Once in place terminate all cables with a punch down tool
02:14 Ensure you hear a distinct termination click
02:31 The tool should automatically cut off the spare cable
02:50 Take the panel management bar and connect to the panel
03:05 Place the cables onto the management bar
03:12 Secure all cables to panel management bar with a cable tie
03:43 Finally cut off any cable tie slack
03:51 Double check colour coding
