Stopped shopping Kroger when they closed stores rather than pay employees fairly during the pandemic, but payed their CEOs outrageous bonuses and made record profits.

Its crazy because where I see this going is I might pay more for the exact same groceries as someone else at the same store on the same day. This is dystopia.

I'm certain this kind of targeted marketing is already illegal. Trying to charge different people different prices based on their age and demographic is not just discriminatory, but incredibly racist/sexist/ageist all at the same time.

Kroger is shady AF. They used the illinois minimum wage increase to erase 15 years of my raises, and the union let them. Now, after fifteen years, I make as much as a new hire, with no more raises that aren't given to everyone. Someone who started last year makes more than me.

This is just the beginning... The FTC is against the merger of Krogers and Albertsons, saying it would limit competition. Krogers then filed a lawsuit saying that the FCC's ruling is unconstutional, thanks to the supreme court striking down the Chevoron decision. Corporations will now be allowed free range because they can sue over every regulation government sets.

Other than the obvious dystopian part, I think increasing prices based on someone’s needs and demographics is easily a form of discrimination.

I'd say I won't be shopping at Kroger, but I stopped shopping there a long time ago. Mostly because of the company's open contempt for their employees and customers. It was such an issue in my neighborhood that the Kroger shut down. I predict a wave of shut down Krogers over this. They can say they're throwing the decision in the reverse, but the goodwill is already burnt. Customers that can leave will, and they won't come back.

I still hope our leaders get off their butts and do something about price gouging, but I'm not holding my breath.

This is ridiculous .this is why the need regulations. Companies cannot be trusted to do the right thing. That's why we pay more for less now.
