Norwegian Military MRE (Arctic Field Ration) 🇳🇴 Armed Forces of Norway Meal Ready to Eat Review

The Arctic Field Ration from Norway is regarded as one of the best military MREs the world has to offer. I was a little skeptical going into this review, as I figured these Norwegian Armed Forces combat rations were somewhat overhyped, but I was surprised by how good this meal kit was. AFR Menu 19, Creamy Pasta with Pork, is quite simply delicious. These ration packs come in at 1,300 calories, which is comparable to the American Meal Ready to Eat, but they contain freeze-dried contents since they are designed for extreme cold climates. After this experience, I'm ready to taste test every single menu.

Thanks for watching!

I grew up next-door to the factory that makes the REAL meals. Every day of the week, from 7am-5pm it oozed the most wondrous mouth-watery scents of all kinds of dinners. I thought it was some kind of restaurant back then.

We Norwegians typically do drink coffee just straight black - sometimes we add milk, but very rarely creamer or sugar. I guess that's what makes us the 2nd biggest consumer of coffee in the world (per capita) :D Oh, and the liver pâte is a very common topping on bread for kids in school etc.

I'm Norwegian and they make civilian types for hiking as well. I bought a few of every meal they produce for emergency, which was enough for about 4 months. In the uncertanty of early 2020, I lived off these and I can recommend every one they make. First thing I did was to see if I could buy stocks, but alas.

My favorite to use the liver patè, is on a slice of light bread topped with rootbeat(I belive it`s called, rødbete in Norwegian. red beat directly translated). very healty, energy and iron rich. Stir the main meal well before resealing after adding hot water, then all ingrediants will hydrate pretty well perfect. A tasty meal in the field in Nordic challanging winter conditions is a boost for your spirit and curage, probobly in any field situation. A good meal is very important for a soldier! I use theese DryTech civil meals for hiking all the time on longer trips, just perfect

norwegian gas stations have this cheese hotdog wrapped in bacon, and I've heard stories about how much the u.s. soldiers stationed here love it

Hi, here in Norway we use these MRE packs a lot on mountain hikes and backcountry ski trips. buy them either directly from the manufacturer in Tromsø Norway (Drytec) in packs of 25, or at some sports shops.

We prefer black coffee in Norway without sugar and creamer.

25 years ago on a small airport norway they sold MRE at the airport.

Not large enough to have a full cafeteria, bit with the MREs you could get get dinner.... 👍

RR, great review. This is a ration that I think I could go for except the pate. I have to say the coffee was my favorite as I am a huge fan of Columbian coffee.
Wishing you and Mrs. a great rest of your day and coming week. See you in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the vid!! I make all my own freeze dried meals, so I very seldom buy any.

The most legendary military food in Norway is "Dead man in a can" and it doesn't expire after decades.

I did not know you had a Ration review channel. I like your videos on RTI products.

Norwegian rations were awesome back in the 90's...way better than anything the U.S. ever had for clod weather.

If you can get your hands on the the Arctic rations, ment for the Danish contingent in north Greenland, I'm sure you would love it...🤤

These are fantastic rations!! I really like that coffee. Pate actually sounds great. But I like liver. The main sounds amazing! Can't beat the FD mains!! Fantastic review as usual brother!

that little boy box is liver paste... also weird that the military issues plastic spoons and not wooden spoons seeing as it's coming from Norway...

RSP tin cans from the 90s were the best! Heat it and put ketchup on it! Nothing beats that! I almost want to buy a box for 25 dollars to get that taste again, but last I ate it was in 2003 and I'm not sure it's safe to eat anymore! 😛

The Swedish army used to buy these. I love them. But they are expensive so of course the army bought the cheaper stuff instead after a few years.
