Remember when the internet was still young, and the boys would sit around the garage and go through their mods in less than a minute? And now its somebody's literal job to stretch that minute into 10 as charismaticly as possible, no matter how much it hurts ...

Practicality: Ergonomics - things you are in contact no matter where you drive makes A LOT of difference every time you get behind the wheel.
1. Steering wheel
2. Seat
3. shift knob
4. Radio, ev. speaker upgrade
5. Lighting

Interesting choices.. I've done all of those mods on mine! Whilst doing the foamectimy one can also fit heated seat pads. They are a nice feature to add, easy to install & inexpensive to buy. Perhaps hotter climates might not need this feature.

Replacing my 1997's weak incandescent interior lighting with LEDs is a huge improvement that did even cost much money. My Pioneer single-DIN stereo with a pop-out touchscreen is another great upgrade.

If the Cipher steeringwheel had black hornbuttons, I would have bought it. I bought a Guardian Designs wheel instead. I like the OEM+ look and want to keep the airbag.

When I replaced my shifter boot, I also added a matching boot to my parking brake handle. It looks great.

Is the seat comfortable after a foamectomy? I like the lower height, but only if long trips are still enjoyable.

Keep up the good work.

My first mod was ditching the steering wheel. The oem wheel is thin and not pretty. I have a no air bag Canadian model so a little less work. As for the air bag and safety. After 30 years do they still work and is really gonna help.

I've got a ninety seven, and i've just kept it completely stock as I got it. I did put a new top on it. A tan cloth top. Much better looking than the old one. The other stuff you talk about I think it's so much b s. What I would really like is somehow make it easier to get in and out of for a six foot guy.

Definitely interested in the custom mats, shift boots and stuff you have done in yours. Looks great!

So far the only thing I’ve done to the interior of my miata is put an NB2 wheel on it. Plan on getting a different shift boot since mine is torn, and also getting the drivers seat reupholstered with the kit you showed. Might do a foamectomy as well.

if you add aluminum or a reflective tape behind the courtesy lights, and also upgrade to led you will have a somewhat useful light

Hi chum - 1) it would be really nice if you let people know what your first name is, so that when we write to you on your channel, we know whom to address. 2) Very nice video. 3) I especially liked your very clear diction (I thought you were perhaps Canadian because you sound like another YT-er I follow who is) I like your well thought out script AND that you are wearing a Lavalier mic, so your voice is very clear.
4) I have a 2009 2.0l NC FL Sport with about 40, 000 miles and the following mods: 2-DIN Pioneer Naviceiver with touch screen, LEDs in all interior (and exterior) lights (except existing Xenon headlights). Illuminated shift knob with new leather boot. Door bushes to improve rigidity, shorty antenna. I would like to modernize the steering wheel for something slightly thicker and smaller, maybe with flat lower part, but it needs to accept all original switchgear (I.C.E. controls). I have the original leather/Alcantara heated seats. and won't be changing them unless they begin to look very very worn. The hood now has 2 gas struts - it makes opening it much nicer. No engine mods (160 HP is good enough in Switzerland - you can't drive fast anywhere) except a K&N air filter. I love your Enkei (?) rims. I also love the fire extinguisher you have. Many years ago I had a new BMW 5-series which had a fire extinguisher at the front of the driver's seat. I had a Ford Europe (=Mercury) Cougar 2.5 V6 that had one in the trunk.
5) I run my NC on 100 Octane (BP) or 98 Octane (other brands, favourite is Shell) because the EMU can let the engine perform optimally. Lifetime AVERAGE fuel consumption is 7.01 liter/100km = 33.55 miles per US gallon, 40.3 miles per UK gallon. Mix 40% Highway/40% Backroads/20% Urban. Backroads are the most fun of course! The HIGHEST consumption I achieved over 1 tankfull (after buying her in 2018) was 8.0 l/100 km = 29.4 miles per US gallon, 35.3 miles per UK gallon. The LOWEST consumption I achieved over 1 tankfull was 6.5l/100 km = 36.2 miles per US gallon, 43.46 miles per UK gallon. All the best, Rob in Switzerland

you can get battery powered stick on lights if you just need a tiny bit more lighting not wired to the car

The cupholder delete on a NB facelift model would be hot too! I would take a good look on that ;-)

I liked what you did .I hv a 96 leather 90K now. I made a tray for the console, brake lights center Flasher . Ram air, lexan wind screen, . But the trunk doesnt fit my glider.Other than that the best ride I ever have had. Still looks mint.

I put an LED strip in the middle of my roll bar with a switch next to defroster sw and one in the trunk lid too. I put tin foil behind the stock lights and cleaned the connections and switches.. doubled output. I installed bicycle bottle holders just under the knees on both sides of the transmission tunnel. They are cheep strong easy access, legs don't touch will hold bottles or flip top locking thermos but not coffee cups. Added clip over wider rear view mirror. Can't hear the blinker relay or see indicator lights behind my smaller NISMO wheel so mounted a multi color LED where I can see it. (Yeah I'm an old gear head and this my daily driver so I took out the racing seat the previous owner used...my wide ass stays put.)

Could you show me how to make the centre console leather thing

For your own safety you should strap down the fire extinguisher with a bit more sturdy straps. I think rubber straps won't slow down the extinguisher very much in a crash.
