I never had an open bite until after traditional braces. My orthodontist removed my braces before they should’ve come off, unfortunately. It was during the pandemic and I think he was trying to get all cases wrapped up, and now I live two states away so there’s nothing I can do about it with that ortho office. It’s not 6mm but it is noticeable enough and I feel like from the side view you can really see my teeth pointing out at an angle. I recently saw a dentist for an exam and he mentioned Invisalign could help, so here I am scouring the internet for successful cases before I sink more money into my smile. Thanks for this hopeful video.

It looks like her front teeth are pulled down and out from her gums a bit because of the treatment. Wouldn't that cause major sensitivity? Will she need to have her gums grafted?

I just got Invisalign for my over bite and I still couldn’t comprehend how they were ever going to fix it, but seeing this video and hearing from another video that each aligner moves about 1/4 a millimeter, makes sense.

Hello! I live in Uk and I had a orthodontist appointment and they said If I want my open bite to be fixed o need to have braces AND jaw surgery right now I am 16, so when I do get this surgery I’ll have to be 18. But I don’t want to risk damaging anything with this surgery so I’m trying to find better options and possibly more natural ways.

Hi Dr. My mom already had a partial denture for front 4 teeth in upper jaw for nearly 17 years. Now the teeth near that dentures tips are broken only root is left 5 teeth around those area. Now our doctor suggesting we have to remove those with teeth extraction surgery at one go and later after a month we can have a complete denture for upper jaw. Is this the right procedure??

Hi Dr. I just started Invisalign in August 2023 and Ive watched several videos regarding open bite cases. In the videos the patients had to wear rubber bands during some parts of their treatments, I asked my Dr if I would have to wear rubber bands as well but she said she hasn't added that to my plan. Is it possible to correct an overbite case without the use of rubber bands? and btw... I have attachments on most of my teeth, if I would've known ahead of time I would've opted for traditional braces.

I have an open bite and I had 4 teeth extracted to close the bite with invisalign. I am currently in treatment and my teeth are moving, I am in week 8. The only problem that I have is that the upoer central incisors don’t want to fit properly and I have to use my chewies non stop. They didn’t put any attachments on them either, those are the only two they’re giving me trouble, do you think there’s a reason for this?

My orthodontist says wisdom both side must be removed for invisalign. My gap is about 6-7 mm (not sure if that right measurement) so has me priced for a 3 year plan..and says if bite is fixed before then i would still have to make payments

I keep seeing everyone saying removing wisdom has sid effects

He said if its not removed..it can be guaranteed that smile csn be fixed with either braces & invisalign

I have an open bite (it was MUCH worse as child but I got braces when I was like 19, and rubber bands; and my bite closed a bit- but still open slightly- I’m 25 now), but my upper jaw is also still slanted. My teeth start out going in a straight direction- then they slowly start to slant downwards.
My bottom jaw slants a bit to the opposite side as well. Will Invisalign help this? Or am I doomed and need jaw surgery 😪. My previous Ortho wanted to remove teeth, but I didn’t want to do that. I feel like my mouth is too small as well.

My orthodontist said I have to extract 4 teeth for braces for my open bite. He stated that without extrctions my open bite would probably come back. But the root cause of my open bite is my tongue thrusting. So if I fix the tongue thrusting problem and also the bite then what difference does it make that I extract 4 teeth? I’m only 17 and my tongue thrusting issue started a year ago, before that I had a perfect bite and not any less teeth. Also, I’ve been looking at clear braces and Invisalign (I’m not really sure of the difference), do you think that could be possible to do for a 17 year old? And is extracting 4 teeth really necessary ?

I have a 2-3 mm sorts open bite. I am really nervous I don’t really want to go for surgery. Am really confused to whether invisilign can fix that or not

I have an open bite too, which is persistent after 2 rounds of braces. I can’t stand it, it gives me headaches, difficulty to chew or swallow and makes my life hell. It’s a tongue problem; my dentist (in Morocco) gave me the choice of using invisalign, but it’s a lot of money and I’m concerned about my open bite coming back after treatment (is there a contention solution ?). Thank you

Address the oral rest posture, then you can move the teeth and find stability in the outcome. What if I told you the woman has had orthodontics twice already. Her first photo should tell you why. ;) Best of luck, Dr. B
