The woman from the Institute of Economic Affairs is a joke. The IEA were the biggest cheerleaders of Liz Truss and the disastrous budget. Apart from the latest Zahawi scandal, he is still yet to explain how contracts were awarded to members of his own family during the pandemic. Going further back, 'the simple truth' charity he was involved in (along with Jeffrey Archer) said they saw very little of the money raised. There is no satisfactory explanation of this either.

The answer is to close tax avoidance loopholes such as non DOM, offshore trusts and to increase corporation tax on large corporations as well as stopping big firms like Google, Apple, Microsoft amd Amazon funnelling their UK derived profits throuh Ireland to avoid tax.

Gary is spot on. There's any number of wealth taxes you can levy. You redistribute through public spending and workers pay and conditions. Its not rocket science! Obviously if inequality is widening, there's less of the pie going to those further down the scale, eventually peoples wages aren't sufficient to pay their basic living costs. Food banks didn't exist when I was a kid. Infact it was quite normal for mum to stay at home and look after the kids because dad earned enough for the whole family. Now both parents have to go out to work and its not enough...Austerity 2 is already causing widespread discontent with the country grinding to a halt and its only going to get worse...

The problems reside in the big building we call
" Parliament " ...when every public servant is compelled to;
Only be able to use public services when in office e.g. The NHS ( no going private for you and your immediate family ) ...
No working for ( or with, I know what you lot are like with your legalese and your technicalities ) any corporations with lobbying ties ( lifetime ban after you come out of office and immediate family ( or the very least 20 years ) ...no working for Banks, Big Pharma, Military etc).
.I mean, you don't have to run for office in the first place if your goal is to make millions off the back of the public ).
No " speaking " money ..cough cough..money laundering.cough cough....I mean who ever heard of paying someone £500, 000 for an hour speech...I used to teach for three hours, speaking most of that time got a Hoarse throat everyday and got paid £9.30 an hour.
No more Loopholes.
No more freebies on the Publics purse.
You're an MP who lives outside London and needs to stay in some digs when coming into London? ..dormi(tories) ( the names in the title )..that's where you'll be staying ...650 Dormitories...you want something nicer?.maybe a little cottage with a white picket fence with a duckpond.?. you pay for it.

Definately no more pay increases " in line with inflation " ...you the economy, your pay goes down ( just like when our groceries go up ).you improve the economy, your pay goes up...more of an incentive really.
No more secret meetings/deals, everything goes on record.
No more party loyalty, this is a merit based position to which your cabinet will also be based on merit ...not skin, class, sexuality or any other nonsense..you want the position what are your credentials?
No more nepotism.
TERM LIMITS ( or an "improvement" Clause ) i.e. the economy's booming you get to run again well done .or a " we'll call you" clause after 6 months.

Then it's a start.
