Both India and the USA have a great deal to gain from a closer and tighter relationship. Long term, India is perhaps the greatest regional counterbalance to the CCP.

Being isolated vs China would not be a smart position

I anticipate China waiting for the right time to challenge Russia. The US should favor a strong India as big conflicts tend to spill over to neighboring countries.

Isn’t it much easier and cheaper for everyone to try and do things together so each country doesn’t waste resources on finding out for themselves?

The Americans would like to think so, but India has a mind of its own, and they have the unusual ability to read a map. Lol

After WWII Finland and Sweden committed to being neutral. What happened after the invasion of Ukraine?🤔🤨

There have been border/ territorial disputes and skirmishes between India and China since CCPs inception. I've always been skeptical of an economic alliance between the two nations since I first heard of BRICS. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

I am sure Indian leaders can learn from Pakistani experience. Ad you might remember, Pakistan threw everything in relations with West, to be dumped on the end. As you also remember, India had then lot more aid from Soviet Union, which was then far more ideologically driven then Russia is now. So, if some in West start pushing some preconditions like dotching Russia, show them middlefinger. Friends do not do that.

Pick a side. You can’t be on both sides.

Even if India is odd man out of Russia, China and India, but it is not as influential in this three way relationship, the key player is still China and Russia, Russia is a resource rich country so it provides both nation with resources like oil, gas and other mineral, you can look at Russia as a middle east country with nuclear weapons and food. China is the world leading country in manufacturing and it is also challenging the US in tech area. Both Russia and China can go without India. India on other hand rely on Russia for oil and resources, its industry relies on China to provide components, parts, technology. As long as Russia has China it does not need India, India is not a global south leader as it thinks it is but China is.
