“Farage coming out with what he said last week in terms of standing for a seat, that has accelerated their support and that's what's turned this into an existential crisis for the Conservatives.”

Kwasi Kwarteng, former chancellor under Liz Truss, accepts he is "partially responsible" for the state of the Conservative Party, but tells Andrew Neil that so are "all the leadership of the party in the last five years" as well as Nigel Farage's campaigning for Reform UK.

The tories have a very arrogant streak running through them, Kwarteng included

Possibly shutting the entire economy down for two years, and calling for those who wouldn’t accept the jab to be punished, had SOME effect ?

Kwasi Kwarteng and Truss deliberately avoided their budget being scrutinised by OBR or Treasury. You have scrutiny for a reason. They are experts who know stuff and would have shot the budget down in flames before it was attempted. They would have been right. Kwasi was seen laughing with financial traders before the budget who said go for it. They probably short sold / bet on the pound falling and made big money.

Sunak would not have the decency to resign over the D Day snub to the people of Britain, Sunak is a total embarrassment, he lost the respect of the people of U. k and he never, never get it back, I hope he does not resign, because his staying will assist the demise of the Tory party. And they deserve nothing else.

It feels like they have deliberately sunk the ship.

The arrogance of the Kwarteng/Truss period when they were so convinced they had the best plan and refused any scrutiny was so damaging. They did not know best. Nor does Sunak with his arrogant attitudes. A party on the edge of fail was pushed over the edge by these three. Kwasi Kwarteng should resign over the mess he left us with.

This will be an example to all politicians - if you lie to the British public, you will not be elected.

I don’t know how Kwasi has the nerve to show his face. He’s got no shame. The most incompetent chancellor ever.

Kwasi Kwarteng is an absolute lunatic, any first year economics student could've told him that his plan was deranged
