That tree crew does seem shady but I’ve been doing tree work since I was a teenager and on numerous occasions I have done $8, 000-$10, 000 jobs before. People don’t always understand what goes into what we do.

8k was probably pretty reasonable especially when you bring 500k in tools and a crew to work 2 full days and stump grinding is separate usually

I am glad for all the support for the tree guys. I've been in the business for 10 years and the comments said everything for me. Good job fellas

That tree service may be a joke But I am an arborist here in Indiana and $8000 for two trees is not a bad price at all!!

Just removed 2 large poplars, close to 60ft high, for $8k. Homeowner was happy 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you dont like the price go buy your own boom truck and equipment and try not to die on the job and then do it yourself. What is wrong with you people, i dont know what the company was but no one is forcing you to hire them. Whoever thinks that cutting trees down is a safe and easy job is a straight up ignorant including the news production giving the poor business owner a bad name.
Shame on you

It feels less like she accepted the quote and had a problem with it and more like she accepted the quote then her family had a problem with it. Honestly, depending on the size of the trees, hazards, etc., 8k is NOT unreasonable for insured professionals that won't wreck your house or get someone injured/killed in the process of taking down the tree. Tree removal is not something to cheap out on. Pay professionals what they're worth. And stump grinding is generally quoted separately.

Police are not in the tree trimming business therefore they have no idea what it takes to remove a tree or the overhead costs involved. The insurance alone for this kind of work is very expensive. When you factor in the cost of workers comp, liability insurance, fuel, man hours, taxes, dumping fees, wear and tear on the machinery so on and so on. Honestly unless you are in the business you have no idea what it takes to do the job or run a business. Personally I see no problem with the price. Honestly if she had a problem with the price she should not have hired them instead of waiting until the work was done to complain about it. The only thing I see a problem with is the fact they drove her to the bank to get cash. Guaranteed they did not pay taxes on that money.

The news should have told people to do it themselves or hire someone who is uninsured to do it cheaper and then you'll really have a reason to call the cops!

i have given bids before from 4K-15K. People can say no. Then they can climb or rent the equipment and do it themselves.

This is why hate the news! I bid tree jobs ALL THE TIME and the risk to reward factors are real! Not to mention hiring workers and equipment and insurance… loading and unloading and dump fees! Don’t even get me started!!!

I got 9k for a tree once. Also I worked as a Contract Climber on a Double Oak in Nashville TN that went for 12k. I one time used a crane and pulled three trees off of a house after a storm for 23k it took about 4 hours. Tree work is expensive if you want to hire a talented tree removal expert with the proper equipment, licenses, and insurance to get the job done.

That's actually a good bid and stump grinding is always separate. Y did she accept the bid to just bitvh later

Customers get shady, I don't trust them either. Cash on delivery

I'm surprised no harassment charges got pushed on the news, the pd or the customer

Honestly the news had no right to put that man's business out there like that. I've done it for 3 years and let me say NOBODY understands why it costs so much on some of those jobs until u start a tree business of your own. Or the homeowner really could've went with her lower bid if she was going to put that man's company on blast like that.

8 grand can be a good price... sadly people are stupid and think tree removal should be cheap. Its the most dangerous job you can have..

And I get yelled at charging people $1000 for 25 ft trees. 4K a piece for trees that can kill you or destroy your house if it goes wrong. That's a good deal. Probably used $100k in equipment to get that done.

The equipment I own is $1, 000, 000.00, we have to do $8k a day or over

8k was probably right on the money, especially in a heavy residential area with traffic, pedestrians, serive drops, com lines, yard ornaments etc. Not to mention 1 000's of dollars in rigging equipment, because tree gear is insanely expensive. Add the cost of owning and operating large equipment that requires cdl's to probably drive, insurance, dot inspections, fuel, business insurance, do I need to go on? All of that is a huge overhead cost, and alot of people forget that they are also paying for the knowledge and know how of the crew to safely remove the trees. Knowledge and skills that most likely took years to develop. Just my 2 cents
