✅Ingredients

• 1 ½ tablespoons instant dry yeast
• 2 cups warm water
• 1 ½ teaspoons salt
• 4 ½ - 5 cups all purpose flour
• 1 large egg, beaten

✅Instructions

02:03 - How to use a French bread pan

1️⃣ 00:14 - In the bowl of a stand mixer, add yeast, water, salt, and 5 cups of flour. Knead on a slow speed until the flour has started to combine. Increase speed to medium and gradually add in remaining flour until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

2️⃣ 01:15 - Transfer to a lightly greased mixing bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise until double in size, about 1 hour.

3️⃣ 01:32 - Divide dough in half. Roll each half into a large rectangle. Roll up tightly from the long end. Place onto a lightly greased baking sheet or into a french bread pan. Cover and let rise 30-45 minutes.

4️⃣ 02:28 - Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Use a sharp knife to cut diagonal slashes on the top of each bread loaf, about 1/4 inch deep. Brush loaves with beaten egg.

5️⃣ 03:17 - Bake in preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, until golden brown.

Great video! And when the bread becomes dry or hard the next day, just give it a quick rinse under the tap and bake it in the oven for about 10 or 15 minutes. The crust will be crisp and the inside nice and soft again 👍🏻

I wanted a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich tonight, but needed bread. I made this and it turned out PERFECTLY! Exactly 40 minutes bread was 190*F. Let it rest a few minutes, then made my sandwich. Amazing! Thank you!

This video was everything I needed it to be. It was how to make the bread and that's it. There were no add-ons there was no filler. Nothing that quick precise easy steps and oh my gosh so refreshing!!!

My favorite. I am going to write down the recipe because I have been baking this bread about three years and every time I have to look it up. Thank you for this great recipe.

I used this recipe and it turned out great. I also listened to a few people in the comments who added everything bagel season on top! Awesome idea 😊

Thank you for sharing the recipe and method! I've just finished taking the breads from the oven, and we couldn't resist eating it after letting it cool for 10 minutes! Warm bread with butter melting into it - what can be more delicious.
I've baked these breads specifically for a side-dish at our braai (barbeque the South African version), where I mix butter, garlic flakes, cheddar cheese, feta cheese and dried parsley - we call these types of breads "french loafs" and the side dish "garlic loaf". I then section the bread by almost slicing it through, and smear the mixture on the slices. Then I wrap it in tinfoil and put it on the braai grid over a low heat!

A note - I dusted the counter top with flour, and then did the rolling - my bread didn't unravel.

I made this yesterday and it turned out great. I ended up making 3 loafs of bread out of it and I had to use some extra flour while rolling it out. I had never made french bread before this, so thank you for the recipe, the family really enjoyed it.

I just made two loaves of this using the same pan that you use. For the heck of it after I brushed on the egg I also sprinkled on my “everything bagel” mixture and it was awesome, and I do mean awesome! This is definitely a recipe that I will be using frequently! Thank you again.

Just bought my first KitchenAid stand mixer, and first thing I did was turn heavy whipping cream into butter and buttermilk. Gonna use the buttermilk for pancakes, but the butter, I turned into garlic butter, which is why I'm now here, learning how to make french bread, so I can make some toasted garlic bread!

I've gotta say, so far, this is proving WAY cheaper than buying premade pankake mix, and premade garlic bread loaves, plus, the home made butter? OMG, so smooth and velvety! I'll never buy store-bought butter again if I don't have to! I'm really looking forward to how this French bread recipe turns out! Dough is currently in the proofing stage.

Thank you for the clear and concise video! I've learned much!
