But no atheist would do this. Most atheists don't give a shit if you're religious. If you want to pray in the middle of a restaurant, an atheist isn't even going to blink an eye because it's not our business.

I love how They made a show about all minorities being bullied but atheists.

I think this is funny bc there is a bible verse that says that you should not pray out loud and in public. It's Matthew 6: 5-6.

It's disappointing how the media is portraying atheism...

I don't walk around with a sign that says "atheist" and yet,  I can't count the number of times I've been approached by a total stranger and asked if I believe in Jesus, or if I've been born again, or if I've been saved, etc. Meanwhile, I have never once been approached by an atheist and asked if I am religious or if I believe in evolution. Not once.

I watched this episode when it aired with my Mom (who is Christian) and we both looked at each other and said, "There's no way anybody would *ever* do this. This is fucking stupid."

The irony is "Christian prayer" would be perfectly allowed, why don't we see the reaction in Texas to Muslims openly praying in front of lets watch that. Then we can see how friendly they are.

I wonder if anybody has gone knocking door to door saying, "Hello, have you lost Jesus yet? I can help you."

Prayer doesn't make atheists "uncomfortable". We might be amused to see a family praying in a restaurant, but we wouldn't be offended, and almost certainly wouldn't say anything. And why is the angry atheist on her own, in contrast to the happy Christian family? It's just a caricature of an atheist.

Agree 100%. This episode needs to be turned around. Never have I ever even MET an atheist who was outright about their beliefs - I find more often than not, atheists are more hesitant to speak about their beliefs (myself included).  However, I have been pestered by christians my whole life. (I have been forced to pray in public when eating fast food with my grandma -_-)

this is an unrealistic situation. It is far more likely that a Christian would do this to a Sikh or Muslim family but without the politeness..

I’m Christian and just want to say that I’m sorry to any atheist that got offended by this

No matter how much you pray, the burger will still taste like a burger.

my family joins hands to pray before a meal, if any of my atheist friends are over they would never dare make fun of my family or tell them off.. they just join hands with the rest of us and shut up for a second and let them get on with it. it's called RESPECT! (granted if they didn't want to join hands my family would respect that too). i personally use that time to reflect on how grateful I am to have a loving family and nice food to eat. and I don't need a god to be grateful to. i might mumble an "amen" for show ;)

There is one thing christians love to forget though.

*Matthew 6:5* _"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others."_

I think I see more Christians talk bad to Atheist or people not in their faith. I know me and my friend had a conversation about our views about life and they try to interpret to talk about how there is a "god" I am -__- good for you please butt out.

What would I do? I would go looking for Alan Funt or Rod Serling, because I would know that I am either on Candid Camera or somewhere in the Twilight Zone. I would like to know if this has ever happened anywhere.

What I have experienced is having Christians harass me and my friend because they listened in on our private conversations on gay marriage, or religion.

Is this normal in america? I mean that people are praying in public? Where I live everyone would be weirded out lol

In the defence of the person in the corner, the family is likely forcing the children to pray and if the atheist is truly uncomfortable then she has a right to ask. Just providing an alternate POV, I agree that the 'forcing religion down my throat' line had no relevance, and the company is likely trying to portray atheism negatively, but just providing something to think about.

I was at my friend's house, and her dad is VERY christian, while I am an atheist. Before dinner we joined hands while he said a prayer, and I just went along with it because I didn't want to be rude and interrupt their family thing. I don't understand this segment at all, because any atheist I know wouldn't bother a family praying in a restaurant.
