WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?

The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.

The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

"Answer the Question!" is "bullying"

"Believe in my particular version of make believe or you will be tortured for eternity" is not bullying, it is "love".

"Christians always feel persecuted when kept from persecuting others." -- Voltaire

“Religious apologists complain bitterly that Atheists and Secularists are aggressive and hostile in their criticism of them.
I always say: look, when you guys were in charge, you didn’t argue with us, you just burnt us at the stake. Now what we’re doing is, we’re presenting you with some arguments and some challenging questions, and you complain.” – A.C. Grayling

Matt is a “bully” even though people are calling him. The same guys who don’t mind lying, insulting, and trying their damndest to get out of having to provide evidence for their claim through threats of eternal, infinite punishment.

When religious people are not allowed to impose their religion on others, they feel persecuted. When they are browbeaten into attempting to justify their claims, they feel disrespected. When they are hounded not to stray from the point, they feel bullied. It all comes from a sense of entitlement they have enjoyed for far too long, and we're reaching a breaking point in this country.

Religions, specially the ones that need to be 'peddled' feel threatened if they are not allowed to 'bully' others.

The vast majority of callers use twisted logic attempting to trap Matt and co. How many times do we shake our heads in disbelief at the way they go about trying to prove their point. Existence of god or not, it’s the stupid reasoning they use in attempting to prove it. After 15 odd years, is he expected to tolerate the same kind of monotonous word salad the majority of them use? He asks every question 4, 5, 6 or more times, yet they refuse to answer. I could not have his patience.

_Oh come on!_ When time is obviously limited, it's just _stupid_ for a caller to waffle and obfuscate.

The caller has to get to the point quickly, and stay on point. And when they ignore directions to just answer the given question, they should either do that, or just _faarkorf._

Matt and I agree. ANSWER the questions we give. It's NOT hard...

But Theists refuse to answer questions.

You cannot bully someone whom you did not initiate contact with and have no power over. The ACA does not pressure anyone to call in, callers can use pseudonym to protect their identities from any repercussions, and the call can be terminated by either party at any time for any reason.

Matt has a notorious reputation for his style as a host. Callers wait for significant time to have the opportunity to participate on the show, while knowing who the hosts are going to be. It's really hard to consider anyone a victim for calling the show with the 'angry atheist' and getting the angry atheist. You can't even say callers are deprived of options, because they can always get a gentler experience with Talk Heathen.

An unwillingness to suffer fools isn't bullying. Confronting stupidity isn't bullying....It's education.

Asking questions and demanding answer is "bullying", that is because all apologetic always deflect and ask dishonest counter-questions. That means that the worst brainwashed theists that listen to apologetic (only) don't know how to have a conversation with questions and answers from both sides. Aaron is such a person.

The only thing I see Matt doing that's out of line is when he gets truly angry when the issue is actually just inability for the caller to hear due to technical limitations. This happens a LOT.

Man, I love when Matt loses his zen, those are some of the funniest calls

The first thing that should be obvious that matt is not a bully is that he's not calling them. They call him

When people call in why is it so hard to just get to the point? I totally get why it's easy to get frustrated with people.

People like to point out. How Matt’s rude but the thing is Matt isn’t rude the reason why he cuts people off is because he wants to clarify things. Not only that but if a theist says 5 or 6 things at a time then it will be difficult or both the caller and the host to address things and follow through. That’s why it’s best to do things one step at a time.

When you prove evidence in court. You don’t find a hair in someone’s car and automatically blame the person guilty. There’s steps to this.

Calling a radio show...
Host: "Hello, what would you like to tell us today"?
Caller: "Um... er... uuuh... well, you know, er... when Adam and Eve... I mean... er... no, when Samson and Jezabel... ummm... ahh..."
Host: "time's up"
Caller: "You're a bully!"

to say that someone is bullying are serious accusations. I do not think he is bullying (those who have been bullied probably know what I mean), to me it sounds like Matt is frustrated not to get a straight answer, I also do not think they want people who preach.

Refusing to listen to endless bullshit seems to be classed as bullying by quite a number of people.
