Mezzos are definitely the most versatile voice types.

Hi Classic FM fans! Just a wee note to say that I missed a voice type in my list - Countertenors!! They are awesome, and they are one step higher than tenors, singing in their falsetto, and making them the highest male vocal range. They also share the castrato repertoire with mezzos. While they are quite rare, when you find one, it's very special.

Great explanations on mezzo-soprano range and the history.
Thank you Wallis!
By the way, your voice has a richness like velvet. It is strong and ringing.

I think mezzo soprano is the most confused female type. I hear a lot of disagreement between people believing a mezzo is just an underdeveloped soprano. I think this is underestimating the range of mezzo. And classing it all as one type. she explains there are different types, they have different feels to them. NOBODYS VOICE IS THE SAME>.

The nerve of some people to come along on a video of a _professionally trained_ opera singer and try to tell her what voice type she is! She's been trained for _years_ in this industry, a professional singer HAS to know their voice type because they have to be able to preserve their voice and use it correctly. Her VOICE is her JOB!
Different vocal techniques apply to different ranges. If she really _were_ a soprano, her head voice would be virtually unusable due to the fact that her range extends so low. I'm not hearing many notes past C6 from this lady, and in opera, most sopranos LIVE on C6 and above!

If you want to see a real soprano, you only have to watch Diana Damrau as Queen of the Night. There's no way the lady in this video could reach that range without sacrificing her voice. And me neither to be honest, since I'm a mezzo myself.

Of course Mezzos have higher voices than altos. That's why we're called mezzo _sopranos_ or Second _sopranos._ I can't believe this even has to be said. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Show me your years of training in opera. Show me your research. Show me where you went for your qualifications. THEN tell me you know better than a _trained professional._

I sing not because I was thought or went to some school. I know nothing about music. I was told I'm considered a mezzo soprano but my voice is definitely higher than your's I am able to hold a very high note. I wish I knew for sure what my voice type is. I myself think I am a soprano but now I am not sure
