Got a lot of LEGO and not a lot of storage? I try to fit as many LEGO pieces as I can into each storage container, and in some cases that means mixing LEGO bricks together. I try to mix the same kind of LEGO element and to mix contrasting colors so it's easy to pull out the color I need. But how do you store your LEGO bricks?

I don’t sort my legos because I’m a menace

Sorting lego is weirdly relaxing, but eventually my ears get so tired that I have to take a break. The Lego “rummage rattle” could be an effective means of torture, I think.

Do you prefer similar colours mixed together or completely different ones so that they are easier to grab when you need them?

Im okay with mixing two colours together but I'd have clashing colours so it's easier to pick the colour you want. Black and brown is a pain!

This is the most Gremlin solution to sorting that I have seen from a Lego Master Builder.

Before continuing please think about contrast. Trying to seperate that dark red from black in less light is horrible.

Sorting legos is like stepping on one... agony

So long as there is high contrast between the colors that's a super cool trick.

I sorted my parts by colour (red in one bag, yellow in another etc.) my spare parts from sets live in a small set of plastic drawers, also sorted by colour.

For my limited space, I'll usually group pieces of very similar colors together in my own lego storage bins and organizers. The only exception I make is the brown-grey from the older sets and the blue-gray from the newer ones. There's a slight difference between the old light gray and the newer light gray too, but that's less noticeable when they mix.

I had sorted all of our legos (by shape and size) but our son is 4 and he didn’t respect my organization. Now they’re in a large zip top hamper type thing that has a play mat with a cinch top. It’s working better and I repurposed the previous storage containers.

This is honestly genius, as long as you remember to make sure the two colors you're mixing are distinct. So mixing Yellow and Flame Yellow isn't a good idea, but mixing Yellow and Blue, then you can easily tell which is which.

Sure, but how do you know where that black and brown is when you can only see the yellow and gray?

homie, why not cut up the cardboard box they came in, and use that small part of cardboard to make a partisan for the drawers?
it looks like you could fit a bag of parts into half of one of the drawer sections (you mixed together two bags(

Locking the bricks together saves on space.

The box has two segments, meaning he could store two colors separately with the same space
