Vintage and modern supercars have become a staple of the collector car hobby – for good reason. With shapes to envy, colors to inspire and enough engineering wizardry to make the Saturn V rocket blush; the world of “supercardom” is really something to behold. At the 2021 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction, the supercar presence was felt – and heard – in the auction arena. With high-performance machines from Maranello, Sant’Agata Bolognese and Detroit rumbling their way across the block, it was quite the spectacle, especially when the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 wowed the crowd when it sold for an incredible $2.475 million. Holy Mackerel! 1967 275 GTB! I drove one of these in 1972 in Redondo Beach. There was a gas station at 601 South Pacific Coast Hwy. (It was demolished and had some condos built there.) It was just parked there and it was for sale = $8000.00!!! The owner went to Brazil and left it there for some work done. Ed was the name of the mechanic and one day he asked to drive it onto the lift! I was 19 and told him I better not! So, he allowed me to bring it to the entrance. Boy! When I started it, and heard those 12 cylinder come alive I had goose bumps on my arms!
I will always remember those few seconds! Most likely never again to be repeated!

It's so sad to see cars that just get bought as investment pieces rather than for their intended purpose. Cars made in the 2000s that aren't even doing 100 miles a year! Just takes them out the hands of people who'd actually enjoy them.
