Possibly remnants of a paw when horses had toes. Keratinised skin just above the medial side of the knee and hock in most horses. Usually more flat and peel off when ready.

Many including me do not understand horse chestnuts! Are they planted or natural occurring? Where are they found? What is the cause? How are they prevented? Can they be completely gotten rid of? Is this transmittable or contaigous? Do these cause pain? Enters!

The chestnut is also known as a ergot or night eye

How often do you have to do this? Does the horse have one on each leg? Do all horses have these weird structures?

Are these caused by an overproduction of keratin in the horse? Is it like a mutated hair follicle or something? I’ve heard about horse chestnuts before but I’ve never done any research in them
