The Only SEIKO Watches Worth Buying Are...

Seiko watches are incredible but sadly the domestic Seiko we are offered have become too expensive and under spec'd. The good news is that there are still some great value for money SEIKO watches out there and I have put together this Top 10.

MY OTHER YOUTUBE CHANNEL

WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use YouTubes lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and YouTube deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

Homage watches are legal as long as they do not carry the name or trademarked terms or names of the original maker which no watches in this video do.

Thank you for your support!

I know this is a value channel but there's more to watches than specs. Love Gary and this chanel but he features alot of junk watches that have good specs. Ive recently gotten rid of my cheap AliX watches and gone back to Seiko. Ive realized brand matters, design matters. I dont wear watches to tell time. I like the way they make me feel. Id rather wear a dreskx for $175 than any of the Tudor BB clones eventhought they have better specs. My box had three seikos and two SM and I mostly wore the Seikos.

I mean at this point, complaining about Seiko’s is a futile effort. If you find one you like for a good price, buy it, but their MSRP’s are ridiculous. Their MSRP’s are probably targeted to people who don’t know a lot about watches or just can’t wait for the prices to come down. Thanks for the great recommendations.

I have never been enamored by seiko. I even lived in Japan for 4yrs and bought casio watches, not seiko. I do love the new 62mas, but for nearly $1000, I'll spend that on a Wise. Enjoyed it. Thanks

I have a 1978 Seiko Lord Quartz, a 1980 SQ (my grandfather’s watch) and a 1981 tungsten carbide case Seiko Dolce with a golden linen dial. All bloody fantastic watches, not to mention my SNXS75 and SNKE63 ❤

I own my grandfather's old seiko 5 and it operates the same way as the late 60's early 70's model you showed. Pinnacle of my collection for the providence alone.

I think your Mondaine wallclock needs a new pair of batteries. The minute hand is ticking backwards 😉

The most overlooked, and best value Seiko watches are their Kinetic SKA 791, they include the genesis of the Grand Seiko Spring movements, excellent polishing, and finishes. The kicker? $100 less than some ordinary Seiko “5” watches, or $160.00

Just a couole of points if I may. The modern Seiko Laurel reinterpretations are magic watches. I have the spb243. The most legible watch in my collection and has become much beloved by me.

In terms of the champagne dial GS you mentioned, from time to time they crop up used for reallt good prices.

There are a number of references involved and couple of sizes (37mm v 40mm).

If you are into just the aesthetics, theres nothing wrong with the older, non jumping hour quartz movement. There are even some cosigned (Seiko / Grand Seiko) versions that crop up for somewhere between €1k - €1.5k.

Worth keeping your eyes peeled for such bargains.

I picked up a beautiful gold filled Lord Marvel made in 1965, the epitome of a 1960's classic dress watch. £270, which was insane value.

I would also advocate for discontinued JDM Seiko watches, SDGM003, SARX033/035/055, to name a few. They represent everything I loved about Seiko. Great specs and quality with a modest price tag.

I would definitely second a grand seiko quartz if you have the option to pick one up pre owned. Picked up a sbgp001 in mint condition and paid less than half the rrp

I bought this (1:51) watch for $135 at Costco. It's stunning emerald green dial reflects light like a star sapphire. With gold accents, monster luminosity and relative thinness (8.5mm), it is a truly beautiful watch. Paired with either a green or black genuine alligator band gives you the choice of fun or dress.

In the past I owned ones such as the SKX, and sumo. They where pretty well priced. Though not that keen on the latest models. Only ones I kept where vintage 6138/9's a 035 tuna and a marinemaster 300 SBDX017.

Seiko will keep putting out underspec’d overpriced watches as long as people are buying them. I am not one of those people. Seiko should be ashamed of themselves.

It's always been my understanding that Seiko's MSRP is grossly inflated. As long as I can remember Jewellers on Spadina (Toronto) show permanent "Seiko 30% off" signs.

Seiko watches are best purchased used, typical used seiko will go for 1/2 MSRP
