I was staying in Ermita, Manila and was going to Robinsons Manila when a Trike pulled up beside me. He said it was 50 Pesos to go there so I rode his tricycle. When we arrived he said it's 550 Pesos! Scammer pala siya! We had a confrontation over it. Here's how it was handled. Sa sunod pupunta na lang ako sa Pulis

Hi all, I’ve just been informed by S.Ma.R.T and the Police that the guy has been arrested and is in custody! Thank you Manila City Hall, the Police and all involved!

Good job Dwaine.I am filipino but it's sad to hear this thing happening in Philippines, they know what they are doing.Kahit na kapwa nga nila Filipino and if they recognise that your from province they will scam you.Good to spread this awareness.

I am a natural-born Filipino but I grew up in Canada since grade 1. I will be visiting the Philippines next month. Because of your video, I will research other possible scams back home to prevent such scams from happening to me. Well done. Thank you so much for this video.

Good job on exposing the scammers, they do this regardless if you're a tourist or a resident of the area, it's a common occurrence when the individual is not that confident of what should the price fair should be.
No one wants to see visitors from other countries to be taken advantaged of, it's such a trashy thing to see.

You should NOT negotiate with these low-lifes. You should have called the police (or threaten to call the police) to lock up these scammers and teach them a lesson. I flagged a taxi once in Manila to just take me to the nearby shopping mall, about a 2 blocks away only (to avoid the sun and muddy road). I told him not to bring down his meter anymore and he agreed. After the short ride, I handed him 50 pesos and that was it.

Buti na exposed ang mga ganitong gawain para maging babala narin sa mga foreigners na dapat mag ingat sa mga scammers.👍

I'm a young American who also lives here in the Philippines and i never back down. I fully relate with you. I get super angry when a local tries to take advantage me because I'm not Filipino. I lived here long enough to know the prices of everything. It happens too many times. I'm not saying it's okay but this is pretty common not just Philippines but many third world countries so you gotta prepare yourself as a foreigner.

Hi Dwaine, sorry you had to go through that hell, but you turned it around by exposing these SOBs. You were gutsy, not allowing to be pushed around. Your video warned me that it’s not always more fun in the Philippines. Thanks for posting.

There are really many scammers in Manila. I was a victim … the driver even followed me to my hotel. He would not leave until I give him all my money. The front desk people just laughed. I hid in the bathroom and pretended to call the police. He finally left! That was one of the scariest times in my life. This happened a few years ago though

I always get lectured that If If I knew the language or was friendlier (like you) stuff like this would never happen. Thanks for sharing that no matter how well you treat the community something negative can happen. Personally I would have just kept walking and ignored them instead of justify my position. But we all deal with things differently and there is no right answer.

Thank you for showing this, we need more people locals/foreign to see this. PH Is not all about how happy and accomodating Filipinos are.

It’s your right to call them out and report we don’t need or want to tolerate this kind of behaviour na nakakasira ng bansa!👍🏼 I’m a Filipino but I live abroad and every time I go home to the Philippines some still tried scamming me!

I am so sorry this happened Dwaine. You were right, next time bring them to the police station.

Just avoid them mate. Don't try to argue and keep walking. It is very dangerous to trigger this type people. I am a Filipino and I experience being stalked on and harass by this type of people if I don't give them what they want. Heck one instance even have them follow me all the way through my destination, so I had to take a detour to the police station since it is actually quite near me that time. As a filo, I want to send you my deepest apology for having this bad experience.

Sorry to hear about that. But, I truly appreciate your courage. I am a Filipino and what they did to you is a shame.
