MicroNugget: How to Connect GNS3 to Live Gear with a 802.1q Trunk on a Mac

Показать описание
In this video, Keith Barker covers how to take a GNS3 environment in a Mac and connect it to live networks so they can interact with each other. Although it seems complicated, this can be a very straightforward process if you do it correctly. Keith will explain the underlying concepts, then walk you through how to accomplish it.
In this MicroNugget, Keith will show you how to take a GNS3 environment that you’ve created in a Mac environment using GNS3 and Dynamips and connect it over a real-world environment to marry the two effectively.
You can have gear in the physical environment as well as logical gear, then allow them to interact in several ways, including the ability to use a trunk. This is actually a relatively simple process. You’ll begin by taking a virtual router and install a 16-port switch module in it. This switch has the native ability to do trunking with 802.1q. Keith will demonstrate how to use this combination to open the door to a whole host of capabilities.
