You will never forget your first Code Blue! 🚑

⭐It can be scary, sad, and chaotic, usually all at once! Try to stay calm, and focus on your skills.
Many hospitals run debriefing sessions after a code. This allows for emotional & clinical
processing of a stressful and traumatic event, as well as reflecting on how the team can improve their process.

⭐Don’t be surprised if you’re able to handle the event well and feel the trauma and upsetting emotions later on. This is also normal (you’ll get quite an adrenaline rush – your patient needs you & you’ve jumped into action!) Our bodies will naturally come down from that rush. Don’t be afraid to reach out to talk, let your friends, family, and colleagues know what you’re feeling, and focus on your own recovery, no matter how quick or long of a moment you may need.

⭐Mock codes are a huge way that hospitals prepare their nurses and staff for critical situations. Take advantage of mock codes through educational resources, keep up to date with AHA, BLS, PALS, and ACLS guidelines, and ask questions if you have any. It’s better to feel prepared BEFORE than confused in the process.

A message from Kristine, founder of NurseInTheMaking📣
My name is Kristine and I survived nursing school…and you can too!
Nurse In The Making was inspired during my time in nursing school. I immediately struggled and decided to create my own study guides. These guides have helped me personally as well as many others make nursing school just a little more manageable.I hope you find comfort knowing that everyone struggles at times. Nursing school is emotionally and physically draining. I hope these informative, clean, and simple guides help you navigate through all the information because there is A LOT of it in nursing school.

Happy Studying Future Nurses. Don't forget to enjoy the journey!

where isnyour back board honey? You never do chest compressions in a bed with no back board.

Just got PALS certified, and doing ACLS next week before we graduate! This helps!

After my bariatric surgery, while in the hospital I went through 2 code blues and 2 blood transfusions. I’m grateful to be alive! Seriously you health professionals are amazing! 💙💙

To whom it may concern:

I appreciate your video but I suggest before you post, make sure your demonstrations are correct: in addition to some of the comments here like the used of cardiac board from the crash cart, delivery of oxygen during CPR must be 100% through Bag Mask Device at 15L/min and when performing cycle of CPR 30 compressions followed by 2 breaths (each breath over 1 sec. with one sec. interval between each breath) you are saying 1 breath every 6 sec. which is applicable for advanced airway during chest compressions.

After calling for help, hospital bed must be put in CPR mode, & a back board is to be placed behind the patient, so chest compressions, that follow, are effective🩺

Here’s a good tip. Open crash cart.
Prep the epinephrine every time, they almost always go PEA.

There's usually a code blue button right above what she just pointed at in other hospitals. Press that one instead if it's a code

I thought its 1 breath every 6 seconds only after an advanced airway has been established by the RT or Advanced Healthcare Provider

What’s 02 @100%? Do I turn it all the way up to the maximum allowed? Ok how about on an 02 tank too?
