I believe all of these types of teachers, occur in phases as the summer goes on. Start off tired, then vacation, and then need to plan and get all of the PD done.

After teaching more than 13 years, I've definitely become the "burnt out teacher lol" people ask me if I get bored and there is NO SUCH THING AS BOREDOM when you need the summer to mentally recuperate even if that's doing nothing.... following to be zen and relax :)

I was never bored in summer, since I loved going to science PD: Geology field camp in Yellowstone, Snow camp studying avalanches in CO, Marine Science in coastal TX, Loved it all! However...it made planning a real mental challenge because there was so much more to try to integrate. I had the mixed blessing of so many resources.

I’ve been the burnt out teacher all summer! I have cable, Netflix, Disney+, and Prime along with a stack of brand new books, puzzles, and crafts I had hoped to enjoy this summer. What am I doing instead? In bed watching the Samsung logo screensaver float across the screen and watching ice eating ASMR videos and TikTok. That’s all I can handle at this point and I’m expected to go back on August 2nd and repeat the cycle! Send help and a tin can of kettle corn. 🙏🏽😭😭😭

I think at some point over the last 2 years I’ve been every one of these teachers! In January 2021 I quit a 20 year teaching job, started a new job, sold a house, bought a house, and moved four states away! By summer I was definitely burned out. Now however I’m in travel mode, on a road trip with two of my grandkids, AND taking college classes for my masters. Ya, I know, gluten for punishment. 😂😂😂
