If you asked Grog before the fight referenced in this song, I think 100% he would've said that people are friends with him because of Pike. I think he finally came to accept that VM thought of him as family when they helped him stand in that combat. From that moment "My Friends" was synonymous with "My Family."

It’s so easy to reduce Grog to a simplistic character good for some comedic bits but instead you captured his complexity and fierce love for chosen family. It’s everything I hoped for Grog and more.

I just realised that every verse is a triplet, then a line that alternates rhyming every odd line with "die." The final verse about family noticeable does not, breaking a pattern and not mentioning death at all.

Honestly I think the simplicity of the diction has made this one of the best showcases of your talent for lyricism of all of your work.

"we laugh, know one of us will die" is kinda clever-- one of us will die, as in either the pack or the enemy. But it also sounds like "we laugh, no one of us will die"-- no one in our pack will die.

The meaning behind those last lines is so simple but so complex? His family name being Strongjaw, communicating that Vox Machina isn’t just his tribe, but his family as well. Alongside slyly working in the ‘where do you find your strength?’ is great.

This is a bit different in style from the other's you've done up till now (maybe a bit similar to Yasha's). I absolutely adore the simplicity and semi-tribalist feel of it, and how you managed to sing so strong yet so gently!

It might just be me projecting my own interpreted meaning, but the part about their "song"... getting a little bit of a nod in there to Scanlan too was great, as I think that... Well Grog said it best himself "Pike taught me to love, but you (Scanlan) taught me to laugh, and I don't want to know what the world is like without that".
