Jay, you remind me of the excellence of the great tenor masters via your great tone, articulation and melodic improvisation.

I am thinking especially of Lester Young, Paul Quinnochett, Paul Gonzales, Frank Wess and, yes, Clifford Jordan, Zoot Sims, Junior Cook and Scott Hamilton.

Many thanks for this, Jay. You are my 'go to guy' for sax teaching resources. For those who don't know, you can transcribe this magnificent solo by clicking settings (the wheel symbol found on the bottom right of the screen) then selecting one of the slowdown options (suggest you do 50% first to get your ear in, then move up to 75%). Start with four or five notes. Hum them to yourself a couple of times then pick them out on your sax. I would do a couple of phrases a day, then really master them before you move onto the next ones. SOOO much improvement in just a week of effort.
Jay you are the top guy. Such a great player, but a lovely easy teaching manner too. I've learned so much from you.

Jay, just coming across this video 2 years after you posted it. Wow ! … that’s a lot of notes !! Well done sir. No disrespect… but I love your tenor playing than the alto. Maybe, because I am partial to the lower sounds resonance of a tenor. Again, nicely done mate.
