Nikon Z8 8K Video Test 
The Nikon Z8 is here. The baby Z9. From the video specs the camera is identical to Z9. Which I actually did a video last year. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to edit the 12Bit N-RAW with Adobe Premiere Pro. So the Z9 video didn’t happen. And I thought after a year. Premiere would’ve updated the software. It turns out it is not for some reason. Maybe there isn’t a high demand when it comes with Nikon N-RAW footage. I don’t know. 

So I ended up shooting the whole video with just 10Bit 8K at 24p/25p. If you wanna pick up the Z8 for video. Please go to Nikon website and go through all the frame rates and bitrate. Because 8K is not available in all settings. First, 8K 50p/60p is not available with H.265, ProRes RAW and Normal ProRes. You can only shoot 8K 50p/60 with 12-Bit N-RAW. And ProRes RAW is only upto 4.1K. And you cannot have N-Log with 8-Bit recording. 

So the 8K footage looks beautiful, super sharp and detail. But the video focus isn’t that great. Sometimes it focuses really well and lock the subject. But sometimes it doesn’t wanna focus at all. Although it’s a bit better than the Z6 II. But still can’t compare with Canon and Sony.  

Overall, I think the Nikon Z8 is such an amazing camera. And the footage looks stunning. Although I didn’t get to test out the 12Bit N-RAW. But 10Bit 8K is more than enough for most of the situation.
