Ivory Coast Receives P-400 Warship and Two OPV-45 Patrol Boats

On Thursday, November 24, 2022, the Ivorian navy received a P400. According to Defence Web, modernization of the P400 included upgrading the propulsion system, generators, firefighting pumps, refrigeration, accommodations, and the navigation and communication equipment. As reported by Fratmat, the P400 is 55 meters long, 8 meters wide, weighs 480 tons, has a cruising speed of 38 kilometers per hour, and a range of 7,200 kilometers. As per, Fratmat, the P400 has a 40-millimeter gun on the fore deck, a 20-millimeter gun on the aft deck, and two machine guns on its sides. As reported by Abidjan, the P400 has a helipad to accommodate air force surveillance helicopters. According to Defence Web, the P400 can carry 25 crew and 18 passengers. As per Defence Web, the Ivory Coast will also be receiving two OPV-45 offshore patrol boats from Israel. The OPV-45 is 45.7 meters long, 8.6 meters wide, and weighs 300 tons, and has a sustained speed of 44 kilometers per hour. The OPV-45 can carry 21 crew and 24 passengers. As stated by Defence Web, the OPV-45 has a 30-millimeter gun on the fore deck and 12.7-millimter guns elsewhere. As per Defence Web, the OPV-45s will be equipped with day/night observation systems.
