An interesting point is raised @ 1:47 with the commercial relationship between the Roman’s and Germanic tribes. The Roman’s granting land rights and legal rights to the Germanic tribes in exchange for their oaths and military service. In a way this relationship is the precursor to feudalism which would be the defecto form of government following the end of Rome and early dark ages/Middle Ages. It’s like a relationship between a King and a Knight or Lord in the Middle Ages. Great video!

The biggest impact on French culture are the Romans, the language, cuisine culture and relgion of the French people are all Roman based. Other groups such as gauls, Greeks and Franks had minor influence on French culture. However celts, Greeks Romans and Franks form together to create the French identity. The franks adopted greco Roman culture, language and religion.
