Nephron Overview: An Explanation of Kidney Physiology based on Nephron Function

The kidneys are the Guardians of Body Fluid Homeostasis, managing various processes such as salt/water balance, electrolyte homeostasis, and long-term regulation of blood pressure. In order to understand how the kidneys participate in this role, you must first understand the basic functioning of the NEPHRON--which is the functional unit of the kidney. In this video I provide a general overview of nephron physiology, including how the various nephron segments (e.g., proximal tubule, loop of Henle) contribute to the over-all function of the nephron.
