I would like to say thank you to the French for what they did in the American revolution for America... we couldn't have done it without them.

Why the need to say which was better it is unnecessary and immature both are important revolutions that changed the futur stop trying to make it a competition

Lmao obviously Americans would say that. Most historians disagree i'm afraid. The American Revolution was cleaner, less bloody and had a *better* outcome for it's country. The ideas/consequences of the French Revolution impacted the modern world much more.

The French Rev I thought was much more entertaining. It was a great subject to learn about. I do like learning about the American Revolution but I just found the French Rev more interesting.

It's also interesting to compare the American Revolution with the attempted one in Russia in 1825. Essentially they held their own version of the American Revolution, and no one came. The fomenters were rounded up and executed. The interesting thing is considering how Russian serfs were not mentally capable of embracing democracy, as opposed to the wildly-individual American colonists. This was, perhaps, why socialists were successful, as trading one czar for another type was more acceptable. Even after 1991, the remnants of this same mentality has resulted in Russia's return to yet a third flavor or serfdom.

And the musical, 1776, is more fun than Les Miserables.

'the US constitution is the longest lasting constitution in human history'? How's he figure that? Magna Carta doesn't count? Rome doesn't count? Ancient Greece?

This is crazy. The French revolution is about the actual realization of humanity, the American revolution is about the future of slavery (and thereby the future existence of capitalism, which was still heavily dependent on slavery)

Si vous voulez vraiment en apprendre sur la Révolution Française mais bonne chance parce que c'est TELLEMENT compliqué, bonne chance.

the French Revolution failed because France had a massive nobility that needed to be abolished so a republic could be created. When Louis the 16th was executed the other kingdoms around France invaded, Plunging the government created by the National Assembly into chaos and extremism. The U.S had no noble class and was not surrounded by monarchies like France was, and Loyalists fled to Canada, so the early republic could transition smoothly. This is why political ideologues and philosopher should not pretend to be historians. If people only look at the French Revolution through ideological lenses, such as how it implemented liberalism, and don't factor in the geopolitical environment of late 18th century Europe, then they sell you snake oil to influence you now.

Blaming Socialism, which did not arise for 70 years after the French Revolution, is even more insane.

I think that the approach is wrong for a part: Don't forget that all France was not in phase with revolution, like in Vendée, that the french aristocracy wanted to take back the power, and that France was in war with the full Europe! in the same time! These abstract considerations are not so relevant. And consider the subsequent impact of the French Revolution on the rest of the world, and perhaps even the title of this video might change, or even reverse.

Two things:
1.) The first 'revolution' was the swiss one. Later the english and dutch revolutions.
2.) And San Marino has the longest existing constitution....just saying

The American constitution also stressed inalienable rights of the individual, whereas the French stressed the rights of the group (collectivist in nature).

It's because we preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ, any other concept is arrogance of man.

Well, the French Revolution was pretty much a mess from the start, the guy that was the real winner was a little guy by the name of Napoleon Bonapart. And he left his mark on things, he even walked to Moscow!
