This discourse from Swami Sarvapriyananda is inspired by a lecture from Swami Vivekananda: "The Real and the Apparent Man" (Jnana Yoga).

ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.

ABOUT US
Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

I love this man. At the end, I couldn't help thinking of Whitman Rumi, and other Poets of the Soul in various traditional forms. I am an American Christian and I thank God for the work Swami does to help us understand the Lord in all his fathomless Being.

Blessed' is he that cometh
In the name of the LORD
Hossana in the Highest

Shanti Shanti Shanti: PEACE

Absolutely Brilliant! I began reading the Real and the Apparent Man, but couldn't comprehend it at first. There's no better explanation than this and can't emphasize enough that Swamiji Sarvapriyananda explained these highly profound concepts with so much simplicity and in lucid language. A true example of excellence🙏

Swami ji has an astounding way of expression and delivery ! Nowhere you would find such a lucid way of explaining ancient thought in chronological and incremental way ! His belief in ' advaitism' is so natural and strong that you are ever attracted to it ! His knowledge and awareness of modern science, philosophy, psychology, theology etc is amazing ! His spending time in places like Harvard, Southern California and New York, the most happening and dynAmic places of the world has added new dimensions to his intellect and persona !! Pranam swami ji, can't thank-you enough

One of your best talks Swamiji...I would love to hear more of your Buddhism studies while at Harvard and compare / contrast with Advaita. The two philosophies are so similar that I have a hard time differentiating them. They both emphasize that the self has no independent existence apart from awareness itself.

Dear Swami, thank you for discourse. As a buddhist who at times struggles with terminology whose ability to retain and remember is fragile, l am very grateful to youtube and your community for relaying these teachings, enabling me to digest them over and over again. One day I hope to visit your centre and meet you personally. I find it a struggle to accept Brahman as unchanging, my gut feeling says not true, just as when l was a child and was told that Jesus was the only way, absolutely not so !! l find Brahman more as a : CONSTANT: not unchanging. An ever present changing reality, this is much easier for myself to accept and understand . Anyway a deep bow of gratitude for you and your community's work and service. I look forward to more teachings.

Pranam Everyone 🙏❤️I am very fortunate to listen an enlightened person in this very life, wonderful Swami ji, whenever any negative thought appears in mind soon I think of Swamiji's ( Sarvapriyananda Ji) picture in mind and at that very moment that disappears, Swamiji is a total Bliss...I wish in this very life one day I could meet Swamiji and take his blessing and it is as important as of getting Enlightenment to me.

Thank you, so profound and on a personal note, really helpful for me in my struggle to understand the one truth that Mahayana Buddhism and Vedanta reflect but seem to dispute . Sometimes these clouds of doubt in my mind seem to cover the shining reality completely! Swami Vivekananda’s teaching is so clearly elucidated by Swami Sarvapriyanandaji.
