In this video I go through adding a new skeleton to a mesh in Unreal Engine.
Until now this was only possible by going out to another DCC such as Blender or Maya. Now we can do it in Unreal Engine 5.3!

The first thing you need to do is enable the Skeletal mesh editing tools plugin !!!
For a long time I didn’t understand why I didn’t have a conversion button !

Exactly what I was looking for to get started experimenting. I can now make my stickman character modeling / animating everything inside unreal. All I was finding was full character skeleton tutorials, usually imported from another program. Thanks for doing this.

In case you are wondering where the convert to skeletal mesh button is missing just add the skeletal mesh plugins

Hi, how can you add separate meshes to the same armor, for example to create the skeleton of a weapon with magazine, Shell ejector, trigger etc?
