What Do All These Bash Files Do (bashrc, bash_profile, bash_logout)

When you use bash or any other shell for that matter there are all these init files hat can be used to configure what the shell can do but what do each of them do and what should you be adding to each of the different files.

When I first started using Bash I know that I had absolutely no idea what i was supposed to be doing with all these files, but once you get the hang of it it's incredibly simple.

I'd like to see a video about the location of important config files and making symlinks and setting up and maintaining an optimal linux system. I'm using KDE neon.

.bash_history and .bash_aliases are my favorite files, because they are easy and don't seem to break things if I mess those files up. I am interesting in using/creating other similar .bash files, so if any one can recommend one or two, I'd be grateful.

Having a separate bash file for my tags and another for my 'mpv <URL>' (music without video) would be ideal. Suggestions, please!

Remember to put "alias emacs=vim" in your .bashrc.

I know this vid is over a year old, but why not put your aliases in their own alias file and link it in your bash/zsh/etc rc? I separated mine out several years ago, can't remember why. Probably read it somewhere as a new linux user, blindly followed, and never really thought about it since.
