Could the Rode Wireless GO mic system be the ultimate new vlogging mic? Today I test and review the Rode Wireless GO!

Travel vloggers may not often use wireless mic systems in due to their bulkiness and complexity, but this new vlogging mic by Rode is here to change that!

In this video, I unbox and discuss my newly purchased Rode Wireless Go mic, with an emphasis on how it could be used for vlogging. I conduct some audio tests by mic-ing my sweet baby girl assistant. I also share exactly how the Rode Wireless Go can be set up for and used as a mic for vlog shots and why it seems like the ultimate new vlogging mic for 2019.

Alicia, thank you for this. I got the Rode mic, and the Canon powershot G7 X Mark 2, according to your video a couple of years ago. Do they work together though? I'm having trouble connecting the two. Help please! Thank you!

Hey Alicia, Are you still liking this wireless setup? We just added a new FDR-AX700 to our arsenal of video equipment for our channel adventures (I had so much fun today shooting at Knoebels with it in 4K. I just down res'ed some footage to 1080p and I am so impressed with it! Also, the amazingly quick focus and 200+mm zoom has me getting shots I have been missing out on) I want to step up the audio game now as well and have been looking at this option as well. So far every vlog we have shot this year has messed up shots because the wind has been so bad.

This is interesting. It's like a mix between using a lav mic and your standard microphone on top. I'll be honest, i'm not that impressed with the quality of it.. but I definitely see uses for this in the vlogging sphere. It would save you time doing syncs in post production when you're at a far distance.

Alicia...just discovered your channel. (how do you not have more subscribers!?) Love it so far! Just picked up an M50 (also have a 5d MII...and a Sony ZV-1. The jury is out on the Sony, though) Anyway....with the M50 not having a headphone jack, are you having any issue monitoring 'levels'? It sounds good! Just wondering. And does the M6 have a headphone jack? (considering trading in the ZV-1 for an M6). Anyway....keep up the good work!

I purchased the Cannon SL3 but it doesn't work well with the Rode wireless mic, there is a lot of static noise. I have adjusted the record settings as others have suggested and it doesn't work. Does anyone know if the M50 has the same problem? Also, how long is the battery life on the M50 in video mode? Thanks.

Alisha...thanks for this. Really enjoy your channel. Have you had any instances where you're just not getting any levels in to the Rode? I just bought mine, tested out out, totally fine. Got to. my shoot...and..nothing. No levels. Came home later, worked perfectly fine. Now, off and on 'working'. The vendor could do nothing, so I contacted Rode. It's been 5 days and I've heard nothing back. Just wondered if you anyone else had this issue. Thanks!

I love the mic system, and it does keep the whole setup more low-profile... I wish I could have a more in depth review on how it performs during an interview. For me it happens that I ask questions to people around me, so I'm curious if it still picks up good audio when it is clipped onto my shirt. Thanks for the review!

What a great video. Love that you put that on your daughter. I'm so though I bought mine for a wedding this past weekend to test out and I got a bad unit with no mic transmission working. Rode is having me send it back....hope my new one is better

Good Review. The Rode Go mic system, definitely deserves consideration as a convenient vlogger mic. Your mic worked well throughout the video. I think Rode did their research and has delivered a good product at a good price. I don't see it as being the only mic for me, but I'll probably add this to my kit.

Love the vlogging equipment tips! I'm just starting my vlog and went with the Canon M50 so I've been watching a lot of your setup stuff. Question on the Wireless Rode Mic, which I purchased... I know the camera also has a mic on it so when using the Rode do I need to shut the internal camera mic off? Adjust anything with that (if there is an adjustment)? Thanks for the help.
