In the 80's I was a staunch Conservative Republican. I remember voting straight Republican. The party has lost its way, to the point that it is unrecognizable. Having a love for America, as was established by our "founding fathers", I can never again vote Republican unless they go back to their roots.

Brian, I was a respiratory therapist for 42 years. I helped a lot of my patients and also lost a lot of patients. It’s what all healthcare providers experience. I would say it’s also what the police, firefighters, all first responders experience. I realized early in my career that if I couldn’t hold on to my empathy and my heart while doing my work it would be time to quit. I agree with Don Lemon and it’s one of the reasons I think you absolutely rock; you have deep empathy for the people of our country being deeply hurt by the Republican agenda. What you have to do is figure out what restores you, what fills you up, what keeps your empathy intact. Believe me, it’s hard to do, but I can’t see you any other way. You, Glenn, Mark, all the folks at the Bulwark, your empathy is what keeps all of us listening to you day after day.
