Security Lapse By US Secret Service? Trump Survives Assassination Attempt

In a major security lapse, former US President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt after he was shot at during a rally in Pennsylvania. The attack has fuelled long-standing fears of the 2024 Presidential campaign descending into political violence. Around half a dozen Secret Service Agents surrounded Trump as the first few shots rang out. The former president kneeled behind the podium. When he re-emerged, he was spotted with a bloodied ear and blood-smeared face. Trump then raised his fist to the crowd as panic turned into cheers. The FBI has identified 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks as the shooter. He was killed by the Secret Service seconds after he opened fire. Now, the Pennsylvania rally venue is an active crime scene with an investigation underway.
