My teacher always says: a mix is never concluded, it is abandoned with moderate satisfaction😀

I totally get the DEMOITIS thing, but I would say at the same time I've used demo takes in the final mix just because they felt better, when the artist recored the demo they weren't thinking so much about getting a perfect take and thats when its more honest. I'd rather use a lower quality take that has more emotion in it than a super clean recording without the emotion. But I will say that doesn't apply to every genre. Thats why music production is so tough because for every rule theres a really good reason to break it, you just have to know when to and when not to. great video!

Patrick, I rarely if ever say this, but his video is excellent on every level. You have echoed everything I've said since 1989, only you said it better. Example: You call it "demo-itis" - in the 90s I did an interview in Mix, part of it talking about "Demo Worship". But you explained it in 2 sentences. Brilliant. Ditto the rest of your points made. You didn't waste a moment of screen time. Thank you! Everyone taking a whack at Mx Prod. MUST watch this. Once again, well done. Excellent on every level.

Great tips!! I don't always agree with using Loops and samples. Especially today with people making money claiming copyright strike. Royalty-free also doesn't always mean it either. You should know how to creat in your own daw first. They're great for speeding up workflow and should be used as a supplement and inspiration to your production. Not as a crutch and I feel can impede your own creativity. Also, get your levels before EQing. Remember the Flechen Munson cure, when decreasing level you have a roll-off of high and low frequencies proportionally. So EQ early without setting your levels will change when other instruments are added and you change them. Also when your mix has too much of say low frequency you don't add more highs. Cut bass otherwise, it becomes an EQ mess. It's about balance in the end. Having even low end and high end. Keep to the basics first!! Certain frequency boost cut or cancel each other especially when mixing several sources sharing some of the same frequencies. Peace

Right with you on 'don't bash on mainstream music'...if you're doing that and you think it makes you sound cool, the opposite is true. It's usually the latent manifestation of envy anyway 😉

All excellent tips btw 🙌🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I always tend to refer to the producers I look up to as "GENIUSES"! And guess what, these "GENIUSES" use loops, sample records, etc. So this is what's going to make YOU a genius when you follow in their footsteps. Besides, the greatest saying I ever heard is, good producers borrow but great producers steal. So as hard as this pill is to swallow, we gotta do it.

I always been naming my projects projectName_vXX (number version) there's no last_last_last_finals.

Though I don't upload every one of them on dropbox, because they're 200 Mb file each, only last version and then each 10th older versions.

If I want different branch, I'll probably put it in different folder and add branch name to file.
