Skylon is the new branding for ex- AVALON arrows. You find Avalon everywhere for entry level accessories (massive in Europe). I have few dozen of Nano Pros, Fivics FiveX and Easton Carbon1, and the Skylon: The carbon looks extremely identical to the Carbon express Nano Pros, much nicer than Carbon1, and not as nice as the Fivics. Components are not a perfect fit (collars are loose, pins need to be glued, which is not the case with Carbon Express and Fivics). Now straightness, weight, they are excellent!! First 200 shots at 30M and 40M for bareshaft tuning gave me perfect groupings. I was the first surprised and since that other archers from my club have ordered them. Great arrows for Field and Target for a fraction of the price... Some shops sell them by 6, it's even easier to test different spines before investing in more expensive ones... And I am shooting recurve.

I shoot those arrows for about a year now. They are good, especially for the price. One advice I can give you ist to not use the skylon points, use x 10 points. The skylon points bend very easily when they hit something hard and this will break the shaft in the front. I used easton points first, but then switched to skylon because I wanted 120 grains and they were cheaper. I broke 3 shafts since using the skylon points, not one with easton. Also the pins are bad, the tolerances are low, you can use easton or cross x instead. So great shaft, but bad components, use easton x10 components instead, they fit nicely.

From a pure physics standpoint, weight and fineness will both play a part in wind drift, as will many other factors. I haven't done the math on the trade-offs, but I would guess weight, FoC, choice of fletching and flight speed of the arrow would make the most difference in high cross-winds.

Here just some information about small diameter shafts and points. I´m shooting X10 on my recurve bow for 3 years now. I went for the tungsten point because the steel points bend when shot on hard target meterial like stramit which is usuall target material used in Europe. You can use tool steel points on a recurve bow if you find a factory which produces some. However these points also bend when shot out of a compound bow. There is also a nother aspect to mention when shooting steel points out of a recurve. You won´t be able to tune the arrow by lowering point weight because of the huge breake-off section.

Heavier arrows are less affected by the wind. It's obvious and doesn't require debate. Anyone who says different is arguing just for the sake of arguing.

The collars are sensible, the shafts alone may not be strong enough to absorb the impact and they compress and bulge giving way. Obviously, fitting the collars won't allow the shaft to bulge when the pin is struck.

Awaiting Skylon arrow reviews. I bought VAP TKO's 4 hunting in 2019 & on the shafts I installed pin bushings & pin nocks. Only damaged 1 bushing & 1 nock & replaced with no damage 2 that shaft. I now have built a heavier shaft 4 hunting in 2020 which tuned perfectly with my setup. My cousin who has a much shorter draw length than me is going 2 cut 3" off the TKO's & use them in 2020. I just finished building new Victory NVX 23's so I don't have 2 beat the crap out of my new hunting arrows that r 640 grains with high FOC. I'm interested 2 see how of these new practice arrows hold up since I buit them from start 2 finish 4 well under $100 so I didn't put pin nocks on cuz it was a cheap arrow build.

After some googling I found out there are 4 models (straightness) of these arrows.
Performa +/-.006
Prelium +/-.004
Paragon +/-.0015 (not +/-.001)
Preminens +/-.001 my understanding is that this one is special edition

Looks like my next arrow. :-) I spend a lot of $ on so many archery items that simply don't work out, so would like to see some component feedback re durability & weight checks on a good grain scale. Easton arrows are certainly an expensive proposition for the average archer, but their pins & points are excellent. Considering the value, perhaps Skylon tungsten points are the go to eliminate any concern ?

Aliexpress brand Accmos sells what appears to be the same super skinny 3.2mm ID shafts, pins, collars & steel points for well over half the price. Great arrows to abuse during backyard practice sessions. I wonder if they roll off the same production lines in China....

Good day to you, sir! A question for you about something else: if I put a sight on Samick Discovery handle will it be possible to shoot shorter distances like 12-18 meters or the pin of the sight will hide itself behind the upper part of the riser? Sincerely, A.S.

I just robin hooded some gold tips Monday night, disappointing and cool at the same time. Would have been better if i didn't have 2 other damaged earlier in the night via smacking each around in the target... $10 a piece though I will not complain!
