Bad alternator bearing noise

That's exactly the noise my car makes! Took off the alternator power connector then re-plugged it back in, and the noise changed, pointed me to the alternator as likely cause, I changed the water pump 1 yr ago, and so I had high conf. it was not the water pump, your situation can be diff. Changed the alternator today, and noise is gone. Noise could be any device on the serp belt; have to isolate the device.

You probably have another 20-50 miles left before it shuts off completely and relies on the battery to power up and drain it. Mine was sounding the same after 30 mph I hear something break it was like one of those sound when a metal fan propeller breaks, it’s at the shop getting it replaced.

Damn im out here with a 2008 r56 cooper s and i thought it was the death rattle but just confirmed it was the alternator so pretty happy with that 😂

Could of been the pulley on the alternator instead of buy a whole alternator ?

How can an alt be bad if it just whines and makes beaeing noises during hot days. It starts right up. No problem with electrical components. Idk can someone explain why an alt starts up 24/7 but whines

Same sound on my honda civic 2006, and I thought it was a bad pulley or the serpentine belt 😅.

Update: I took my civic to the shop and what was making that sound was the water pumb. If you this noise on your car you don't have too long untill it breaks.
