KICK & BASS SEPARATION 👈🏼

👨🏻‍💻 When you're mastering and you only have a stereo file,

🤔 But you need some more separation in the kick and the bass,

⬇️ Try this trick using Ozone 10...

🎛 Load up the Master Rebalance and the Dynamics plugin.

🆙 On the Master Rebalance plugin, turn the bass up by about 2dB.

🙅🏻‍♂️ On the Dynamics plugin, select the lower frequencies at around the 200 crossover point.

🔇 Make sure you turn off the upper frequency band as we're only going to be compressing the low end.

👉🏼 Set your ratio at about 4:1 with a fast release and a slow attack.

🎚 Bring the threshold of the compressor down as the track plays until you're only getting about -1 to -2 dB of gain reduction.

Can you explain the idea behind that compressor and what it’s doing? Maybe explain the settings for the compressor as well. Like I think it’s just a slow attack. So we boosted the low end and then turned it back down a little with the comp but since the attack is slow the kick poked through. Am I correct?
