To explain US internet users’ habits, we first break it all down into numbers. An average American lives 78.7 years. 23 years of this time are spent sleeping. 10.3 years are spent working. And a whopping 21 years, 4 months, and 29 days are spent online.

Of course, some of these activities overlap — a third of the time spent working is spent working online.

Online life is full of various activities. It involves not only work but leisure, chores, and socialization. Let’s zoom in and have a closer look at online habits in the USA.

A week is 168 hours long. During a typical week, US internet users spend more than 46 hours online. Out of those 46 hours per week, 15 hours are spent working. 5 hours and 23 minutes are spent streaming TV shows and movies on platforms like Netflix or Hulu.

Fun fact: 4 hours and 37 minutes are spent on social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter. 4 hours and 22 minutes are spent watching various videos on platforms like YouTube. 3 hours and 19 minutes are spent listening to music. 2 hours and 29 minutes are spent gaming, and the rest is spent on various tasks and chores, like researching and online banking.
