Around 2-4 weeks of age Females have 3 layers of wing feathers, and males have only 2. Best way I've found to tell them apart.

For everyone who has been waiting to see if I was right. I was. They’re all laying eggs now.

So many people on YouTube have it the other way around….IDK why they try to confuse people. Thank you for showing the right way.

Omg thank you I thought my baby chick was a boy but it’s a girl❤❤❤😊😊

Something that costed me a lot of confusion was that feather sexing (such as checking the wing and tail feather length) only works if you know the parent’s genetics so it varies depending on the flock

I also heard that you can tell by how messy their feathers are, as roosters typically have more fine and long feathers. While hens with have fluffy messy wing feathers. Is that true?

For fast feathering birds, you look at the wings on day 2 or 3, and if there is one row, then they are female. If there are two, they are male. But honestly, I stopped checking. who cares.

All the feathers don't look even. It looks like two different rows at the end ( the last outer third) and inner half it looks like 2 different lengths so that makes 4 different lengths or rows. Not all breeds are wing sexed, I read. But if feathers were all the same length, like mostly on a rhea or emu they can't fly. Some rooster breeds like Japanese have extremely long tails, so all their feathers are definitely different lengths than those on face, wings etc. I thought it flight WING feather groups on each wing look even, it was a certain gender. Under feathers, down and at very top of wings will be shorter but the flight feathers should look like rows in a garden.😊

I just watched another short clip that said the exact opposite 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nope, only on certain breeds. Please get your facts straight before posting videos as though it is a fact. It took 2 seconds to google search feather sexing to find that it is only for specific breeds.
