*eats planets and collides with them*

For all that destruction; the altering of the core’s speed and other massive changes may be why life exists on Earth. Without Theia, life may never have happened on Earth.

Does that mean that... if that asteroid had missed Venus... it... would have held life? Life could've developed on it? There could have been extraterrestrial beings right next to us? That... is so cool.

2:20 I knew that this resulted in the formation of our Moon, but I didn’t know that we had Theia to thank for our magnetic field as well.

The universe is so mysterious that still holds infinite secrets that we will never find

I love how google detects "venus" as "beans" or "penis" at the auto-generated subtitles.

RIP Theia :''(
(Theia was Gaia's actual twin - Gaia is the name of the young earth)

At 2:14 the surfaces of Earth and of Theia touch, 6 seconds later, in the video, half of Theia is below the surface of the Earth. In reality this took 720 seconds. This video show this collision 120 times faster then it actually happened.

Im pretty sure pluto is just in the background being like "Ha. Can't wait till the sun swallows everyone. Thats what they get for calling me a dwarf planet. Now time to wait billions and trillion of years"

This sort of thing makes me question whether we are actually the lone sentient life form in the universe. There was so much luck involved in our evolution. If Theia had not hit, or hit at a different angle, we wouldn't be here. If the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs missed Earth, we wouldn't be here. So many chance happenings brought us to this point. What are the odds of another planet having that same luck - Very small I'd imagine.

Venus is the "special kid" in the solar system

Theia was like a water planet and earth was a burning planet so it basically save us by sacrificing

2:11 mars sized object= Theia, a planet covered with water, but paler than Neptune

And also 3:31 what kind of spin backs?
Planetary spin or Orbital spin?

julaihaidris

So if Venus wasn't hit and started spinning in the wrong direction, maybe it would have an atmosphere or lower temperatures?

So both of the planets got fricked by another planet, and earth gave birth to the moon and Venus did not,

a large planet made Venus have the solar system's steepest tilt? weird.
