High-tech way to spot plastic beach rubbish... from space | ABC News

RMIT University scientists have found a way to spot plastic rubbish on our beaches from space, using a satellite imagery tool to pick up differences in how sand, water and plastics reflect light. The study's lead author Dr Jenna Guffrogg tells Yvonne Yong the technology could be used to find plastic in places "that are not so safe to send people to, and then use that to try and help guide clean-up efforts to where they're most needed".
