Honestly, I don’t care what society wants from me. I don’t break the law, I don’t hurt or take advantage of others, and I certainly don’t dictate or decide how other people should be living their lives. I’m divorced and detached from society’s “expectations.” I don’t live your life and you don’t live mine.

Its shockingly cheap to live as a single male, especially if you are a minimalist. Once you realize your only working to impress woman who dont know what they want anyway, theres literally no point to grind 40 hours a week at a crap job just to eat and support minor habits.

Society checked out on us.
We logically responded in kind.

The secret to life starts with not giving a hoot what society thinks.

Single men, three things for success:
1. Keep your pickle in your pants.
2. Work hard and live on way less than you make for 10 years.
3. Travel. Fuel your hobbies and passions.

Society fears people who are independently happy and free.

Almost every married man I've ever encountered has told me to never marry, they always say the same thing: It's Not Worth It

Retired at 68 yrs. Last year. Live in the mountains with my dogs who will never betray me. Couldn't be happier

People just want you to be like them and work be a homeowner and be married to validate their life decisions. They're not really happy but they want approval and validation so they push that on you

I got married 3 times. Age 22, age 38, age 54. Each one has had it's own consequences of never feeling whole and satisfied with their outcomes. I'm almost 80 now and I cannot change my life at this point because of financial and psychological outcomes. Just riding it out now with acceptance and grace.

Society wants us to be bored and lonely with a decent paycheck where we earn enough for vices, but not enough to stop working.

I think we were all raised to believe that hard work pays, work hard and you'll do well, but this isn't the case any more. In fact the harder you work, the less you get paid and if you're not self employed and you're too good at your job, or actually have a moral compass, you're probably going to go through 10 different companies dealing with insecure bosses who want you gone.

The hookup culture and normalization of casual sex has definitely messed up family creation... Social media is just an amplifier to the problem

I'm a diesel mechanic and love it, but I'm at the point I only live for me. Not having a family, not getting married...just done with it all.
Society hates us? We walk away, and we're not coming back. Can't wait to buy a small cabin in the middle of nowhere and society can F off.

I agree. I hate when society looks down on you automatically if your a grown man and aren’t a lawyer or a doctor or something high in profession. All these expectations. Just live how you want to live and do what you enjoy.
