James clearly filmed this video ages ago and got fed up of waiting for the Ugarte deal to be done so just put this out there now 😂 i don’t blame him

Very similar profile to Casemiro currently(long passes, tackling, dodgy under pressure), except he has more legs. We saw when Casemiro had legs top 4 was not a problem.

This guy is on a mission to always see the worst for United 🤣

basically he is young Casemiro, who needs around Kroos and Modric...

Every signing is a risk
Nothing guarantees successful signing tbh
He resembles kante (except the progressive Carries) and we definitely need that profile

At the end of the day, it's all about passing patterns at the back. Ten hag has coached Edson Alvarez and now Casemiro, 6s with poor technical abilities and he has made it work. From what I learned has well from watching United, Ten hag is not really that interested at playing at the back as people seem to think. He wants quick passes straight to the mid 3rd/forwards, hence chaos. I think Ugarte thrives in those scenarios.

I appreciate the fact that you talked about the negatives and not just the positives 💯

He’s a ball winner and he can cover a lot of ground. That’s what Manchester United need.

Due to Mainoo's lack of pitch coverage for now, I reckon Mainoo will be our first phase player and also our sitter in a high press. Also, due to Mainoo's press resistant and pass vision, I suspect he would develop into a Regista or DLP with two attcking 8s infront of him. Ac Milanesque with Pirlo(Mainoo), Gattusso(Ugarte), Seedhorf(Bruno), Kaka(Zirkzee). Chelsea did same with Kovacic(Mainoo), Kante(Ugarte), Mount(Bruno)

The “concerning” passage of play around 6:08, you’ve missed out the most obvious, which is for the player who passed him the ball to run forward for the one two and beat both players pressing the ball. He actually chooses the best option but his defender isn’t on the same wavelength and bizarrely, retreats after playing the pass rather than moving forward to help beat the press. Ugarte expected his team mate to make a run but he instead retreated. Now maybe he should have seen that the defender wasn’t making the obvious run and changed his mind but clearly he didn’t. Not totally on ugarte there though

Don't think the press resistant issues are as big as your making out, he was considered a very press resistant player at sporting (under amorin in a double pivot) and has a very high pass completion rate. He'll keep the all circulating, dont think thats an issue.

The issues come from his OOP inconcistency, weak upper body, no use of a stiff arm, and tackles like hes declan rice without the flexibility. high variance player, needs to improve that.

Negativity !!!! I'm sure anybody could find clips of every football player making mistakes !!! No player is perfect. Ugarte is exactly what United need.

If Manchester United secure both Manuel Ugarte and Adrien Rabiot (as a free agent), their midfield will be set for the next few seasons. Many neutral fans underestimate the depth and strength of this United squad, but with ETH at the helm, they’ll hopefully prove the doubters wrong.
The midfield options would then include:
CAM - Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, and Christian Eriksen;
CM - Kobbie Mainoo, Rabiot, and Toby Collyer;
CDM - Ugarte, Casemiro, and Sekou Kone.

Great video James. Providing new insight when there is so much content on players united are interested in should be viewed as an achievement. Keep up the good work mate

It's frustrating that we are paying PSG the exact money they need for Joao Nevez. So they are basically getting and younger, better DM/CM for free

All fair points. I think he suits United better than any other team which is good for us, i do foresee some frustrations but in general i think he'll be a great signing

If they can somehow shift Ugarte into a more defensive box-to-box midfielder he can be like Ander Herrera on roids with the tenacity of Casemiro
